Open VTS provides real-time vehicle tracking with sub-second map updates. This guide covers the core tracking interface and how to customize it for your workflow.
Live Map Overview
The main dashboard displays all active vehicles on an interactive map. Each vehicle is represented by a directional icon showing its current heading and speed.
- Green — Vehicle is online and moving
- Yellow — Vehicle is online but stationary (engine on)
- Gray — Vehicle is offline or no recent data
- Red — Vehicle has triggered an alert
Vehicle Detail Panel
Click any vehicle on the map or in the sidebar list to open the detail panel. It shows:
- Current position with address geocoding
- Speed and heading
- Ignition and movement status
- Last update timestamp
- Battery and signal levels (if supported by device)
- Custom attributes (fuel level, temperature, etc.)
Map Controls
| Control | Action |
|---|---|
| Zoom to All | Fits all visible vehicles on the map |
| Follow Mode | Keeps the map centered on a selected vehicle |
| Cluster Toggle | Groups nearby vehicles at lower zoom levels |
| Map Layers | Switch between street, satellite, and terrain views |
| Traffic Overlay | Shows live traffic conditions (where available) |
Info
Follow Mode automatically pans the map as the selected vehicle moves. This is useful for monitoring active deliveries or service vehicles.
Filtering Vehicles
Use the filter bar above the vehicle list to narrow results by group, status, or custom attribute. Filters persist during your session.
