Last updated March 15, 2026
Geofences are virtual boundaries drawn on the map. Open VTS triggers alerts when a vehicle enters or exits a geofenced area, enabling automated compliance and security monitoring.
Creating a Geofence
- Navigate to Geofences in the sidebar
- Click + Add Geofence
- Choose the shape: Circle, Polygon, or Polyline
- Draw the boundary on the map
- Enter a name and optional description
- Click Save
Geofence Types
| Type | Best For |
|---|---|
| Circle | Simple zones like depots, parking lots, or customer sites |
| Polygon | Complex areas like city zones, industrial parks, or route corridors |
| Polyline | Route-based corridors (e.g., approved highway path) |
Assigning Alert Rules
After creating a geofence, link it to notification rules: Navigate to Notifications → Geofence and select the geofence, target devices, and notification channels (email, push, webhook).
Info
A single geofence can be shared across multiple devices and notification rules. Changes to the geofence boundary automatically apply to all linked rules.
