Photo Location

Upload a photo to inspect its EXIF metadata for embedded GPS coordinates. If geotag data exists, view the photo's location on a map and reverse-geocode it to an address. All processing happens in your browser — no images are uploaded to any server.

Tool Guide

Extract GPS Location Data from Photo EXIF Metadata

Photo Location reads image metadata in your browser to find embedded GPS coordinates, camera details, timestamps, and location context. It helps you check whether a photo is geotagged and view the captured location on a map without uploading the image to a server.

Common Use Cases

  • Verify where a field photo, delivery proof, site survey, or inspection image was captured.
  • Check whether an image contains geotagged GPS metadata before sharing it publicly.
  • Convert photo GPS metadata into coordinates, map links, and approximate address information.

Key Features

  • Client-side EXIF parsing for supported image formats without server upload.
  • GPS coordinate extraction with map placement and reverse geocoding when available.
  • Camera, timestamp, file size, and image metadata inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are uploaded photos sent to Open VTS servers?

No. The tool parses supported image metadata in your browser so the photo file does not need to be uploaded to a server.

Why does my photo not show GPS coordinates?

Many cameras and apps strip location metadata, and some screenshots or edited images do not contain EXIF GPS tags. The tool can only show GPS data when it exists in the file.

Which image types are supported?

The tool is designed for common image files such as JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC where readable metadata is present.
